Templates

Templates are reusable content configurations that define what media plays on your display devices.

What is a Template?

A template contains:

  • Device Slots - Positions for each physical screen
  • Content - Media or scripts assigned to each slot
  • Schedules - When content should display
  • Display Durations - How long each item shows

Creating a Template

  1. From the home page, click Create new template
  2. The editor opens with one empty device slot
  3. Enter a template name in the name field at the top
  4. Add content and configure the template

Template Editor

Device Management

  • Add Device - Create a new slot for a screen (drag content onto the “Add Device” zone or click the button)
  • Remove Device - Delete a slot
  • Reorder - Drag devices to change order

Content Assignment

For each device slot:

  • Click + Add content at the bottom of the device column
  • In the dialog, use the content type filter to show All Content, Media Only, or Scripts Only
  • Search or browse content, select items, and click Add
  • Drag content items to change playback order
  • Click a content item to configure its display duration

Scheduling

Configure when content plays:

  • All Day - Continuous playback (default)
  • Time Range - Specific start/end times
  • Date Range - Limit to specific dates
  • Recurrence - Daily, weekly, or custom patterns
  • Exceptions - Exclude specific dates

Autosave

The template editor automatically saves your changes after a short delay when you stop editing. Autosave is temporarily paused when:

  • Other users are editing the same template
  • Your local data is stale (someone else saved changes)
  • There are validation errors (such as duplicate template names)

You can toggle autosave on or off from the editor toolbar.

Undo and Redo

Use keyboard shortcuts to undo or redo changes:

  • Undo - Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows/Linux)
  • Redo - Cmd+Shift+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Z (Windows/Linux)

You can also use the undo and redo buttons in the editor toolbar.

Publishing Templates

Send template content to device groups:

  1. Open the template
  2. Click Publish
  3. A dialog appears with two scope options:
    • In-sync device groups only (Recommended) - Only publish to device groups that haven’t been manually edited since the last publish
    • All device groups linked to this template - Publish to all device groups where this was the last published template
  4. Click Publish Template

For more control, click Advanced: Select specific device groups to choose exactly which groups to update.

If the template has never been published to any device groups, clicking Publish takes you directly to the advanced selection page.
